Resources

General guidance for organising consumer correspondence. These resources are deliberately framed as information, not advice.

Financial hardship signposting

Routes for free debt advice, council crisis support, benefits and grants, food, housing, utilities, court-fee help, Breathing Space and mental-health support.

Open hardship help

Debt evidence checklist

Identify the debtor, original creditor, current owner, debt type, balance, last payment, court status, assignment chain, account documents and vulnerability factors.

Written-only discipline

Keep a dated correspondence log. Avoid phone-only conversations where proof and exact wording matter.

Deadline control

Court papers, Letters of Claim, SAR deadlines, complaint final-response dates and FOS referral windows should be diarised and treated separately.

Do not ignore court papers. Complaints and SARs do not pause court deadlines.
